Harrington Law Offices in Boston has been representing clients throughout Massachusetts in relief from removal hearings since 1994. In seeking to stop your deportation (a termination of removal proceeding), attorney Daniel P. Harrington will pursue all avenues to help you remain in the U.S.

You may be eligible for relief from removal if:

  • You fear political, religious, ethnic or other forms of persecution and are seeking asylum.
  • You have no criminal charges against you and can prove hardship to a qualifying U.S. citizen relative.
  • You have family in the United States.

In filing an application, we may seek a cancellation of removal if have been a legal permanent resident for at least five years and:
  • Were legally admitted to the United States
  • Have lived in the U.S. continuously for at least seven years (that is, you did not leave for a period of time and then reenter the U.S.)
  • Have not been convicted of a felony
  • Or if convicted of a crime, you can receive waivers

Cancellation of removal for those here on a nonimmigrant visa (no green card) may be granted if you:
  • Have a qualifying relative in the U.S.
  • Have lived in the U.S. continuously for at least 10 years (did not leave for a period of time and then reenter the U.S.)
  • Have demonstrated "good moral character"
  • Can prove that deportation would create a hardship for your spouse, parents or children
